Elijah Ministries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded to help children and families build strong families through adoption—especially children with special needs and children who are at risk.

 

Our founder, Charlotte Medley, is an author, recording artist, and advocate shaped by love, loss, and purpose. She is the author of The Upside of Downs, an autobiography grounded in her son Elijah’s story—born with Down syndrome and a heart defect, later receiving an autism diagnosis. Elijah was a special angel who left this world too soon, yet his life became a lasting legacy of hope.

 

From her childhood experience of growing up in and out of abuse and in a children’s home, Charlotte learned that what is meant to break you can also become the very foundation for healing. Her passion has always been the same: to take pain and turn it into purpose—so that other families can find their way forward with strength, support, and love.

 

Bridging the Gap, One Family at a Time

 

At the heart of Elijah Ministries is a simple belief: every child matters—every life matters. For families who feel limited by financial strain, uncertainty, or the realities of adoption, we work to help bridge the gap. We focus on the children and families who need encouragement most—so more adoptions can become possible, supported, and sustained.

 

Elijah’s Story Lives On

 

We are also building a bigger platform to share Elijah’s legacy. We are currently working on a movie based on The Upside of Downs—a story that shares the truth that God doesn’t make mistakes. Even when life feels unclear, God can create miracles, and sometimes those miracles continue to give after we can no longer hold them in our arms. In Elijah’s passing, he became a donor—turning love into a gift that reached beyond his short time on earth.
